PHOTOS FROM I-55 RACEWAY
Pevely, MO (August 18, 2007) Randy Korte of Highland, IL claimed the UMP DIRTcar Late Model main event at I-55 Raceway in his debut outing of the new paint scheme honoring his son's graduation from U.S. Army Basic Training. Korte took the lead on lap four from Belleville, IL's Jeff Johns. Johns took the lead using his outside front row starting position, but Korte, who started on the pole, soon moved past Johns and led the final twenty-one laps enroute to the victory. The first caution flew on lap eleven for Paul Roider's spin in turn two. Then, just three laps later, Dewayne Kiefer made contact with Danny Haynes as the two battled for the fourth spot, sending Kiefer's car spinning into the inside wall going into turn one. The final caution flew a couple of laps later as Jeff Beyers jumped the cushion in turn three and slammed the outside wall. Korte remained strong after each restart and held Johns at bay to earn the victory. Bryan Collins took third and padded his point lead and appears to be on his way to winning his second straight UMP DIRTcar Late Model point title at I-55 Raceway. Danny Haynes was fourth and Mark Voigt completed the top five.

Pevely, MO (August 11, 2007) Hot temperatures led to some hot racing action at I-55 Raceway. Randy Korte of Highland, IL scorched the field in the UMP DIRTcar Late Model division. Korte led all twenty-five laps of the main event that was marred by a tremendous four car crash on lap two right in front of the flag stand on the front straight away. Don Klein, Darren Forrest, Brad White and Matt Santel were involved in the crash. Brad White and Matt Santel both escaped uninjured but Don Klein and Darren Forrest were taken out of the track by ambulance. Klein walked to the ambulance and Forrest was alert but was put on a backboard. After the race was restarted Korte took command and held off several brief challenges from Danny Haynes before the race was slowed again when Michael Kloos experienced a hard crash as he went head on into the turn three wall. Kloos was not injured but the same couldn't be said for his car. On the restart, Haynes once again challenged Korte for the top spot but Korte would separate himself from Haynes and pulled away to take the victory. Haynes finished second with Billy Faust taking third. Jeff Johns took the fourth spot with Kyle Steffens rounding out the top five.
